ALLY MOHAMED

2015 - 2016 SSAKU SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL, UGANDA

Ally, like many young players of his generation in Arusha, was introduced to the game of basketball on Soweto grounds.  Through PBP, Ally first learned how the game of basketball could support his community and his future goals. Due to his talent, Ally received a nomination to attend a program in Uganda, where he was awarded a two-year basketball scholarship for a college education.  

Ally explains, "The Pamoja Basketball Scholarship Program allowed me to bond with my host school's administration and other international students. I realized that people build trust through sports. I was thankful for my community and learned how I could give back." 

Ally is now playing for the JKT Basketball Club and the Tanzania National Basketball team. He also volunteers for the National Service Army in Tanzania. He is one of the four players in the country on the waitlist to attend college in the US. He wants to further his education and someday play professional ball. Ally continues to inspire many young players in Arusha.
